The Concord Recreation Department presents its new Strategic Plan for public review and comments. The Plan consists of thoroughly evaluating the Town of Concord's Recreation assets, including indoor and outdoor facilities and properties for active and passive recreational uses. The Plan is intended to communicate the Vision, Strategic Priorities, Goals, Objectives, and Key Initiatives regarding the Town’s current and future recreational assets. The Plan was developed by Weston & Sampson with input from the Recreation Commission and a multi-department steering committee. It is based on extensive input from stakeholders including the public and various Town Departments and organizations.

This plan was developed over 12 months with input from community members first through a survey with input from over 600 households and then through discussions at an open house forum at Hunt Gymnasium in March 2023; at the Concord Recreation Stow Street Block Party in June 2023; and at the Summer Concert Series at Rideout Park in July 2023.

The Plan describes future needs and makes specific recommendations. However, to act on those recommendations the next steps will include, project prioritization, planning, and budgeting, which will take place, where appropriate, in coordination with other departments and stakeholders.
